Before you fly

Confirm your phone is eSIM capable and carrier unlocked, then install the profile at home rather than at the gate, because you need a working connection to download it. Label it clearly in your settings so you can tell it apart from your home line, and set your home SIM to voice only so it does not quietly pick up data in the background. Download an offline map of the whole island; it is small enough that the file is trivial and it covers you on boat trips.
