Why a travel eSIM will not install on a watch
Three things stand between a travel plan and a wrist, and each of them alone would be sufficient.
The setup path expects a carrier, not a QR code. A phone lets you add an eSIM by scanning a code from any provider. The watch flow generally routes you through the companion app to a carrier selection screen. If your provider is not one of the operators supporting that watch programme, there is no place to put the profile.
Watch profiles are usually tied to a voice line. There is exactly one scenario where the distinction genuinely matters on a trip: deliberately leaving the phone behind. A morning run along an unfamiliar seafront, a swim, a hike, a night out where you would rather not carry a phone at all.
